Volunteer Opportunities

The Florida State Fair is so much more than midway lights, rides, and fantastic food. It’s a 12-day tradition, fueled by volunteers, that welcomes 500,000 people each year. This massive mission simply would not be possible without the passion and commitment of our volunteers.

We rely on your can-do attitude to turn this huge event into amazing and unforgettable experiences year after year. Join us and become a vital part of this beloved Florida tradition!

    Become a Fair Volunteer

    Age Requirements

    • Ages 18 and older: Eligible to volunteer independently.
    • Ages 16 to 17: Eligible to volunteer with a guardian’s signed permission.

    Ways to Volunteer

    We need volunteer assistance before, during, and after the fair. The fair is home to hundreds of vendors, educational displays, and entertaining exhibits. We always need enthusiastic support to enhance the guest experience.

    Livestock Barns

    Passionate about agriculture and animals? Be part of the action in the livestock area!
Volunteers assist in the animal barns creating a safe and memorable experience for fairgoers.

    Creative Living Competitions

    Creative Living is where Florida’s unique talent shines! Volunteers help manage multiple competition categories for both youth and adults—from baking and quilting to Lego art and photography. These roles involve organizing entries, assisting with judging, and cultivating creativity.

  • Cracker Country

    Become a Cracker Country Volunteer

    Join us as a volunteer at Cracker Country and assist us during our educational field trips, privately scheduled tours, and a limited number of public events each year. Please check out our event calendar to see a complete listing of the opportunities to visit Cracker Country, Event Calendar.

    Adult Volunteers

    Do you love history? Or enjoy helping local school children? Then we are looking for you! Become a Cracker Country volunteer, and join our wonderful team sharing history during educational field trips!

    Help us put the “living” in living history! Volunteers dress in period clothing and demonstrate time-honored skills and crafts to immerse guests in an authentic experience of life in Florida more than a century ago. Docents help teach hands-on educational field trips for schoolchildren and help interpret history at special events and during the annual Florida State Fair.

    Cracker Country provides orientation and on-going learning opportunities. Docents must be able to commit to at least a year of service, from September to May, for a minimum of 8 hours per month, or for a minimum of 5 days during the annual Florida State Fair. Schedule is flexible.

    Currently we are only seeking volunteers who are available to help on weekdays.

    Youth Volunteers

    We are no longer accepting applications for the 2026 Youth Volunteer program. Please visit us again on November 1, 2026, when applications open for the next season.

    History Connectors depict the lives of early Florida settlers by wearing historical costuming and interpreting rural Florida history at various special events and educational programs. This program is a wonderful opportunity for teens to develop leadership skills, to give back to the community, and to meet new people of all ages. Volunteer hours at Cracker Country apply to many scholarships and other programs.

    Participants are assigned to historical sites to interpret Florida’s history and trades, answer questions, and behave in a responsible and professional manner.

    Program Requirements
    • Age: 13-17 (all individuals must turn 13 by December 31, 2025)
    • Applicants are accepted until December 31st, or until all positions have been filled.

    Available to volunteer on the following dates:

    • January 24, 2026, 9:45 am-12:00 pm—Youth Volunteer Training
    • January 31, 2026, 10:00 am-1:00 pm—Florida State Fair Training
    • February 5-16, 2026 Times vary—Florida State Fair*
      • History Connectors are required to work at least 4 shifts during the Fair
    • October TBA, 2026 6:30 pm-9:30 pm — Tall Tales Event
    • December TBA, 2026 9:45 am-4:00 pm — Christmas in the Country
    Program Commitments
    • Attend historic content & museum techniques training
    • Public history interpretation at various museum openings
    • A commitment of at least one year of service
